Mango Tree Lodge is set in a garden in Thakurdwara village, a short walk from the headquarters of Bardia National Park. It is owned and run by a local family whose background is in wildlife guiding, and that shows in the way the lodge plans safaris: early starts, long days in the park and guides who know the tiger territories along the Karnali and its streams. Cottages are simple and comfortable, and meals are served in a shared dining area.
The lodge suits travellers who want to spend most of their time in the park rather than at a resort. Guests often stay three or four nights, mixing jungle walks with full-day jeep safaris and a river float. In the evening there is time to compare sightings with other guests over dinner. Bicycles and Tharu village walks fill the hot middle of the day. We use Mango Tree for many of our standard Bardia packages and confirm room types and current rates for each booking.

Questions travellers ask
How far is Mango Tree Lodge from the Bardia park gate?
It is in Thakurdwara village, a short walk from the park headquarters where walks and drives begin. That saves time on early mornings and makes it easy to visit the crocodile breeding centre and park office. Jeeps pick guests up directly at the lodge for full-day safaris.
Is Mango Tree Lodge good for families?
Yes. The garden setting, simple cottages and relaxed atmosphere suit families, and the guides adapt activities for children, such as shorter walks, river floats and village visits. For long jungle walks we recommend children be at least 12. Air-conditioning or cooling options matter from April, so confirm room type when booking.
What activities can I book at Mango Tree Lodge?
Guided jungle walks, half-day and full-day jeep safaris, Karnali river floats, bicycle rides and Tharu village visits. Park fees, jeep hire and guide charges are usually priced separately or bundled into our packages. Full-day safaris with packed lunch give the best tiger chances.
