Dashain and Tihar in Nepal: What Travellers Should Know
Dashain and Tihar are Nepal's two biggest festivals, falling in October and November in the clearest weather of the year. Expect closed shops for 3–5 days around Vijaya Dashami, full buses and flights, and hotel rates 20–35 percent higher. Tihar, Nepal's Diwali, is easier for visitors, with lamp-lit lanes and fewer closures.
