Road by jeep 2 days
Drive Nepalgunj–Surkhet–Karnali Highway to Jumla (≈ 340 km · 12–14 h), overnight, then continue via Nagma towards Gamgadhi and the Rara area (≈ 100 km · 5–7 h). The road is narrow, partly unpaved and prone to landslides from June to September. It shows the Karnali gorge but is tiring.
Flight + trek 40 min + 5–6 days
Fly Nepalgunj–Jumla and trek to Rara via Chere Chaur, the Jaljala pass, Chalachaur, Sinja and Pina, crossing Ghurchi Lagna. This is the classic Rara trek, moderate in grade, with camping and simple lodges. Fly out from Talcha at the end.
