What a Pokhara trip costs per person
We price every Pokhara package per person on twin sharing. The price covers the hotel with breakfast, a private car or van with driver for all transfers and sightseeing, the Sarangkot sunrise drive, a boat to Tal Barahi and a local guide for the main sights. Flights from India are quoted separately because fares change weekly, and adventure activities such as paragliding are optional extras that most guests book once they see the weather.
The table shows the ranges we quote in 2026 for land packages. The low end of each band is a standard room in a good 3-star hotel in a normal week; the high end is a lake-view or deluxe room in October, November or the Christmas and New Year fortnight. Our own packages sit inside these bands: Pokhara 3 nights from ₹16,000, the 4-night family holiday from ₹21,000, the 4-night honeymoon split between Temple Tree Resort and Fish Tail Lodge from ₹34,000, and the 6-night Kathmandu, Bandipur and Pokhara tour from ₹36,000.

Getting to Pokhara from India
Most Indian guests fly into Kathmandu and then either take a 25-minute domestic flight or drive 6–8 hours on the Prithvi Highway. Delhi–Kathmandu economy return fares usually run ₹12,000–22,000 when booked 4–6 weeks ahead, and Kolkata is often a little cheaper. The Kathmandu–Pokhara flight costs Indian nationals a lower rupee fare than other foreigners, typically NPR 4,000–6,500 one way, which is about ₹2,500–4,000.
The road route through Sonauli, 95 km north of Gorakhpur, suits families from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. From the border Pokhara is about 190 km and 7–8 hours by car on the Siddhartha Highway through Butwal and Syangja. Pokhara International Airport opened in 2023, but direct scheduled flights from India have been rare, so check current status before you travel.
- Fly Delhi–Kathmandu, then Kathmandu–Pokhara: quickest, ₹15,000–30,000 per person in flights
- Fly to Kathmandu and drive to Pokhara: saves the domestic fare, costs a day each way
- Train to Gorakhpur and drive via Sonauli: cheapest for groups, about 9–10 hours border to Lakeside including formalities
- Mixed route: enter at Sonauli, tour Pokhara and Kathmandu, fly home from Kathmandu
Hotel costs by class
Hotel class is the biggest single driver of the package price. A good 3-star Lakeside hotel such as Hotel Barahi costs roughly ₹3,500–6,000 a night for a double room with breakfast, and it puts you a short walk from the boats and restaurants. Boutique 4-star properties like Temple Tree Resort & Spa run about ₹7,000–12,000. At the top end, Pokhara Grande in Pardi, Fish Tail Lodge on its lake peninsula and Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge on the ridge east of town start around ₹15,000 and rise steeply for suites and full-board plans.
Lake-view rooms add ₹1,500–4,000 a night over garden-view rooms in the same hotel. Breakfast-only plans keep costs down, because Lakeside has dozens of restaurants where dinner for two costs ₹1,200–2,500. In Bandipur, The Old Inn and similar heritage guesthouses cost more than their facilities suggest, since the town has few rooms and they fill early.
What the package price includes and leaves out
A typical 3-night Pokhara package from us runs like this: arrival and a late-afternoon row on Phewa Lake, a full day starting with Sarangkot at dawn and continuing to Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, the Mountain Museum and Bindhyabasini temple, a free day for paragliding or Begnas Lake, and a departure transfer. Everything on the left-hand list below is in the price; the right-hand items are what guests most often forget to budget for.
Entry fees are a small share of the total but cause most of the confusion at ticket counters, so we state in writing which ones are covered. If you want a guide for the whole stay rather than the main sightseeing day, it adds about ₹2,500–3,500 per day for the group.
- Included: hotel with breakfast, private vehicle and driver, airport or bus park transfers, Sarangkot sunrise drive, Tal Barahi boat, guided city sightseeing day
- Not included: flights from India, lunches and dinners unless stated, paragliding, zipline and ultralight flights, camera fees, tips, personal shopping, travel insurance
Activity and entry costs in Pokhara
Sightseeing in Pokhara is cheap; adventure sports are where the money goes. Indian nationals often pay a lower rupee rate than other foreigners at both sites and activity counters, so always ask. The figures below are typical 2026 rates per person and change each season, so check current status before you travel.
| Activity | Typical price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tandem paragliding, 20–30 min | ₹6,500–8,500 / US$ 70–90 | Photo and video ≈ US$ 15–25 extra |
| ZipFlyer zipline, Sarangkot | ≈ ₹6,000 / US$ 70 | Weight limits apply |
| Ultralight flight, 30 min | ≈ US$ 180–220 | Morning only, Oct–May |
| Phewa boat to Tal Barahi | NPR 1,000–1,500 per boat per hour | Seats 4–6 |
| International Mountain Museum | NPR 250 SAARC / NPR 500 others | Allow 2 hours |
| Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave | ≈ NPR 100–200 each | Lower SAARC rates |
| Manakamana cable car, return | ≈ NPR 900–1,200 for Indian adults | Higher fare for other foreigners |
Sample budgets for three trips
These are per-person totals for two adults sharing, travelling from Delhi in a normal week. They include flights, the land package, entry fees, one adventure activity, lunches and small tips. Real quotes move with dates and room availability.
The budget line enters Nepal by train and road through Sonauli and uses a 3-star Lakeside hotel. The mid-range line flies Delhi–Kathmandu, drives to Pokhara via Bandipur and flies back. The luxury line flies both domestic legs and splits the stay between Fish Tail Lodge and Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, with paragliding and an ultralight flight.
| Per person | Budget, 4 nights | Mid-range, 6 nights | Luxury, 5 nights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Getting to Nepal | ₹2,500 (train + border transfer) | ₹16,000 (Delhi flights) | ₹22,000 (Delhi flights) |
| Land package | ₹21,000 | ₹42,000 | ₹85,000 |
| Domestic flights | None | ₹3,500 | ₹7,500 |
| Activities and entry fees | ₹2,500 | ₹9,000 | ₹26,000 |

| Approximate total | ₹29,500 | ₹77,500 | ₹1,52,500 |
What pushes the price up or down
Season matters as much as hotel class. October, November and the last week of December are the most expensive, while February, early March and late September give good weather at lower rates. The monsoon months of June to August are cheapest of all, but the mountains are usually hidden.
- Dates: Dashain, Diwali, Christmas–New Year and Indian school holidays add 20–35 percent
- Room type: a lake-view or deluxe room adds ₹1,500–4,000 per night
- Flight or road: each Kathmandu–Pokhara flight adds about ₹2,500–4,000 per Indian traveller
- Vehicle: a sedan seats 3 guests and a Hiace van 9–12, so groups pay less per head
- Meal plan: adding dinner (MAP) costs ₹800–1,500 per person per night
- Extra stops: a night in Bandipur or a Manakamana visit adds driving time and fees
How to keep a Pokhara trip good value
Drive one way and fly the other. You see Manakamana or Bandipur once, avoid a second 7-hour drive and pay one domestic fare instead of two. Book October and November trips 8–10 weeks ahead, because the good 3-star rooms at Lakeside go first, and keep a spare morning in Pokhara so that a cloudy day does not cost you a paid paragliding slot.
Before paying a deposit, ask exactly what is included: how many breakfasts and dinners, whether the Sarangkot sunrise drive and boat are in the price, whether the car is private, and which entry fees are covered. A quote that looks ₹3,000 cheaper often leaves out exactly these lines. Our quotes name the hotel and list each item.

Questions travellers ask
What is the cost of a Pokhara tour package from India?
A 3-night Pokhara package starts at about ₹16,000 per person on twin sharing, with a 3-star Lakeside hotel, breakfast, a private car, the Sarangkot sunrise and a Phewa boat ride. Four nights start near ₹21,000, and a 5-night Kathmandu and Pokhara trip runs ₹24,000–35,000 at 3-star. Flights from India and adventure activities are extra.
How much does a 4 night Pokhara trip cost for a couple?
A 4-night Pokhara trip for a couple costs about ₹42,000–60,000 in total at 3-star level, or from ₹68,000 for the two of them on our honeymoon package with Temple Tree Resort and Fish Tail Lodge. Add Delhi–Kathmandu flights of roughly ₹24,000–44,000 for two, plus paragliding if you want it, at ₹6,500–8,500 each.
Is it cheaper to fly or drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara?
Driving is cheaper for groups, flying is often better value for couples. A private car costs about ₹9,000–13,000 one way for the whole vehicle, while the flight costs an Indian traveller roughly ₹2,500–4,000 each. For two people the difference is small and the flight saves 6–8 hours; for a family of five, the car wins.
How much money should I carry for 3 days in Pokhara?
On a package that covers the hotel, breakfast and transport, carry about ₹5,000–8,000 per person for 3 days for lunches, dinners, entry fees, boat tips and small shopping. Add ₹6,500–8,500 if you plan to paraglide. Indian ₹100 notes are widely accepted at Lakeside, but carry Nepali rupees for taxis, boats and temples.
Do Indian tourists pay less for activities in Pokhara?
Often, yes. Many sites and some activity operators charge SAARC nationals a lower rate in Nepali rupees. The International Mountain Museum charges about NPR 250 for SAARC visitors against NPR 500 for others, and paragliding and the zipline are frequently quoted lower in rupees. Carry your passport or voter ID, and check current status before you travel.
What is the cheapest month to visit Pokhara?
June to August is cheapest, with hotel rates 25–40 percent below October, but the monsoon hides the mountains and paragliding is mostly paused. For value with good weather choose February, early March or late September. Avoid Dashain, Diwali and the Christmas–New Year week if price is your main concern.
Are flights included in Pokhara packages from India?
International flights from India are usually not included, because fares change daily and many guests travel by road or book their own tickets. Domestic flights between Kathmandu and Pokhara are included when the itinerary uses them. Confirm in writing which flights are in the price and the baggage allowance, which is usually 10–20 kg on domestic routes.
How much does a Pokhara trip cost for a family of four?
A family of four on our 4-night Pokhara family holiday pays about ₹70,000–95,000 for the land package with a 3-star hotel family room, since children sharing with parents cost less. Add flights from Delhi of roughly ₹50,000–80,000 for four, or enter by road at Sonauli to save most of that.
Is a luxury Pokhara holiday expensive?
By international standards it is moderate. Five nights split between Fish Tail Lodge and Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, with private transfers and domestic flights, costs about ₹85,000–1,20,000 per person on the land side. That is far less than a comparable lake and mountain resort stay in Europe, but three to five times a 3-star Pokhara trip.
