Club Himalaya, run by ACE Hotels, sits high on the Nagarkot ridge with an open sweep of the range from Langtang and Dorje Lakpa across to Gauri Shankar on clear mornings. Guest rooms come with private balconies, so in October and November many guests watch sunrise from their room without climbing to the view tower. The resort has an indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, a spa with sauna and a bar and restaurant serving Nepali, Indian, Chinese and continental food.
The drive from Kathmandu takes about 1.5 hours via Bhaktapur, which makes Club Himalaya a natural first stop on our grand tour and honeymoon packages. Nights at this height are cold from November to February, often near 0 °C, and an indoor pool is rare at Nagarkot, which helps in those months. Book well ahead for Dashain and Tihar weekends, when Kathmandu residents fill the ridge.

Questions travellers ask
Can you see Everest from Club Himalaya Nagarkot?
On very clear mornings, mostly October to December, a small tip of Everest can be picked out far to the east, but it is distant and easy to miss. What you will see clearly is the closer line of Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal and Gauri Shankar. For the best chance, be on your balcony or the terrace 20 minutes before sunrise.
How cold is Nagarkot in winter?
From December to February night and early-morning temperatures at Nagarkot often fall to around 0 to 3 °C, with clear, sunny days near 12 to 15 °C. Bring a warm jacket, a hat and gloves for sunrise. Club Himalaya's rooms are heated and its indoor pool makes winter stays more comfortable than at simpler lodges on the ridge.
How long is the drive from Kathmandu to Club Himalaya?
Around 1.5 hours for the 32 km, via Bhaktapur and the winding Nagarkot road. Many of our itineraries combine the drive with a Bhaktapur Durbar Square visit in the afternoon, arriving at the resort in time for sunset. The road is paved but narrow near the top, so we use experienced local drivers.
