Shivapuri Heights Cottage sits on the forested slopes above Budhanilkantha at roughly 1,800 m, at the edge of the national park. It is a small property: three rooms in the main cottage, two in a smaller cottage and two more in a separate house, each individually decorated with private balconies or patios. The last stretch is reached on foot from the road, which keeps it quiet and away from traffic noise.
Meals are home-cooked with local ingredients and served on the terrace or in the dining room, and the property offers massage, a sauna and Nepali cooking classes. Guests use it as a base for walks to Nagi Gompa and Shivapuri peak, birdwatching from the terrace, or simply as a calm first or last night away from central Kathmandu. Water is solar heated and there is Wi-Fi.

Questions travellers ask
How far is Shivapuri Heights Cottage from Kathmandu airport?
It is about 7 km north of central Kathmandu, around 30 minutes by car from Thamel plus a short walk up from the road, and roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour from Tribhuvan International Airport depending on traffic. Bring a small daypack for the walk; staff help with luggage.
Can I hike into Shivapuri National Park from the cottage?
Yes. The cottages sit on the edge of the park, and trails lead towards Nagi Gompa and Shivapuri peak. You still pay the park entry fee at the gate. A guide is recommended for longer hikes, and the property can help arrange one.
Is Shivapuri Heights Cottage suitable for families?
Yes, the separate cottages and quiet grounds suit families who want space, and children enjoy the gardens and birdlife. The final walk up from the road and the hillside paths mean it is less suitable for travellers with limited mobility. Ask about room configurations when booking.
