This is the fastest way to reach Muktinath from Kathmandu without overnight stays: no Pokhara connection, no Jomsom flight lottery, no jeep ride. We collect you from your hotel around 5:30 am, fly west along the Himalaya past Manaslu and the Annapurnas, land at Jomsom for fuel and the permit check, then hop the last 10 minutes to Muktinath. You spend about an hour at the temple and are back in Kathmandu before lunch on a clear day.
Helicopters carry up to five passengers on this route, depending on total weight. If you book a seat, we combine you with other pilgrims to fill the aircraft, which keeps the cost per person down. If you prefer your family alone, or want flexible timing, you charter the whole helicopter. Either way, flights only go when the weather is clear, and we keep the next morning as a backup.

Questions about this trip
What is the Muktinath helicopter tour price from Kathmandu?
A shared seat costs from about ₹89,000 (US$ 1,070) per person when five passengers share. A private charter for up to five costs about US$ 4,800–5,800 per helicopter, roughly ₹4–4.9 lakh, depending on season and fuel prices. Prices include permit, transfers and landing fees. Check current status before you travel.
What is the difference between charter and per seat?
A charter means you hire the whole helicopter, paying one price whether you fill one seat or five, and you control timing. A per-seat booking means you buy one or more seats and we fill the rest with other pilgrims on the same date, so each person pays a share. Per-seat is cheaper for small families.
How long is the helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Muktinath?
About 1 hour 10–20 minutes each way, including a short stop at Jomsom for fuel and the permit check. With about an hour on the ground at Muktinath and the breakfast stop, the whole trip takes 5–6 hours from heliport to heliport.
Can senior citizens do the Muktinath heli yatra?
Yes, most healthy seniors manage it well because there is no long drive or trek. Muktinath is at 3,710 m, so walk slowly at the temple and stay calm. Anyone with heart disease, severe breathing problems or uncontrolled blood pressure should get medical advice first. Horses help those who cannot climb the steps.
How many people fit in the Muktinath helicopter?
Usually five passengers plus the pilot in an AS350 B3, subject to total weight of around 400–450 kg. On hot days or with heavier passengers, the pilot may take four. We ask for each passenger's weight at booking to plan the load and avoid surprises at the heliport.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The pilot decides on the morning. If clouds block the route or Muktinath, the flight is postponed to the next clear morning, or cancelled with a refund or credit according to the operator's policy. We recommend keeping one spare day in Kathmandu after your planned flight date.
Do Indians need a passport for the Muktinath heli tour?
Indian nationals need a valid passport or voter ID card for the ACAP permit and the flight manifest. Aadhaar, PAN and driving licences are not accepted as travel ID in Nepal. Children under 15 can use a school ID or birth certificate with a parent. Send copies when booking.
Can we bathe under the 108 spouts on a heli tour?
Yes, there is time for a quick bath or sprinkling, but with about an hour on the ground most heli pilgrims sprinkle water and take darshan rather than a full bath. If you plan to bathe, wear quick-dry clothes, carry a towel and a change, and keep it short in the cold.
Can we add Damodar Kunda to the Kathmandu heli tour?
It is possible on a private charter, but it adds flight time, a second refuel and costs considerably more. Damodar Kunda is at about 4,890 m, where only 4–5 passengers can be carried and ground time is 10–15 minutes. Flying from Pokhara or Jomsom is usually better value.
