Temple Tree Resort & Spa

A boutique resort at Gaurighat in Lakeside, built in stone and timber around a garden pool and named after the frangipani, or temple tree. It has two restaurants and a full spa, and Phewa Lake is a three-minute walk away. A favourite for couples.

Temple Tree Resort & Spa sits in a quiet lane at Gaurighat, at the northern end of central Lakeside, a few minutes' walk from the shore of Phewa Lake and about 15 minutes on foot from the Tal Barahi boat ghat. Its architecture draws on the stone, slate and carved wood of the western Nepal hills, with low buildings arranged around a landscaped garden and an outdoor swimming pool shaded by frangipani trees.

Rooms are styled with local stone, wood and textiles, and some have balconies facing the garden or the hills. There are two restaurants serving Nepali, Indian and continental food, a bar and a full-service spa offering massages and Ayurvedic treatments, which makes it a good base for honeymoon and wellness itineraries. It combines the convenience of Lakeside, with restaurants, boating and paragliding offices nearby, with a calmer atmosphere than the main strip.
