Manaslu in February

February is still winter, with heavy snowfalls possible above 3,000 m and Larkya La closed in most years. Lodges higher up begin to reopen late in the month as families return. A lower trek to Namrung, or into the Tsum Valley as far as Chhokangparo, is possible with warm gear and flexible plans. Lhosar is celebrated in Tsum and Nubri in February or early March, with dances and family gatherings in the gompas.
