Is August a good time to visit Annapurna?
August remains wet, with heavy rain, leeches and landslides on the southern trails. Hindu pilgrims walk to Khayer Lake above Khopra around Janai Purnima, usually in August, but conditions are hard. Manang and the upper Circuit are drier but access is slow. Late August sometimes brings longer clear spells, and botanists enjoy the wildflowers in the high pastures. Most trekkers wait for September.
