Is August a good time to visit Manaslu & Tsum Valley?
August is still monsoon, with rain, landslides and leeches on the lower trail. Late in the month the first Manaslu expeditions fly to Samagaun, and the climbing season begins at base camp. Upper Tsum and Nubri are green, with barley ripening in the fields. Trekking is not advised, but the end of August starts the countdown to autumn as the rain eases in the high valleys.
