The monsoon usually reaches Chitwan in mid-June. Until then, safaris continue in heavy heat; afterwards, the Rapti rises, park tracks start to close and the grass grows quickly. Most core-zone jeep safaris and canoe rides stop or shrink, and activities move to the buffer zone and community forests. Some lodges in Meghauli close for the season.
