Questions travellers ask
Is July a good time to visit Chitwan & the Central Terai?
July is the wettest month. Heavy rain floods the Rapti and Narayani, most of Chitwan's core zone is closed to visitors, and leeches and mosquitoes are everywhere in the forest. Landslides on the Mugling–Narayangarh road can cause delays of hours. A few Sauraha hotels stay open at low rates with buffer-zone walks and village visits, and Devghat's ashrams and Bharatpur's riverfront remain open. For wildlife, wait for October.
