Is June a good time to visit Kanchenjunga & the East?

The monsoon reaches eastern Nepal first, usually in early June, and it is one of the wettest parts of the country. Landslides block the Mechi Highway to Phungling and the jeep roads up the Tamor and Arun valleys, and leeches appear on every forest trail. Tea gardens are green and plucking continues, so a short Ilam visit from the border is possible with flexible plans. We do not sell treks or Pathibhara road yatras this month.
