Questions travellers ask
Is July a good time to visit Kanchenjunga & the East?
July is the wettest month across the eastern hills. Rivers run high, roads to Taplejung, Khotang and Sankhuwasabha close often, and flights to Bhadrapur and Biratnagar are sometimes delayed by storms. Mountain views are rare. The tea estates are lush and busy with second-flush and monsoon plucking, and the cool evenings of Bhedetar and Dhankuta attract weekend visitors from Dharan and Biratnagar. Treks to Kanchenjunga and Makalu are not practical.
What is the weather like in Kanchenjunga & the East in July?
Ilam 19 to 26 °C, wettest month, frequent cloud and fog. Conditions change fast with altitude, so check the mountain forecast a few days before you travel.
